Because of its high dosage of acid, glycolic acid is able to extract dead skin from the face through an exfoliating skin or gel, which leaves skin looking younger and feeling smoother. Glycolic acid is also used in chemical peels, where the skin is scrubbed in an effort to break apart the dead or dry skin.
